FIRST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR!

Hello All! and Welcome to University of Glasgow Sri Lanka Expedition 2018's Blog. Please take the time to look around and see the work we conducted last year and what you can expect from us in 2018. This is our first post of the year with many more to follow regarding information on the team and who we are and what are trip and plans entail.

PUB QUIZ FUNDRAISER!

Our first fundraising event was a success! We held a pub quiz at a local pub/restaurant called the Crafty Pig. The place was packed - we had to ask some people to share booths so we could fit everyone in who wanted to take part. Our aim of the night was to raise money from ticketing the event, raffle tickets and having buckets around the pub for people to donate money. Thanks to the contribution of our whole team we managed to bag some quality quiz and raffle prizes; a bottle of spiced rum, a box of Thorntons chocolate, a bottle of Prosecco and the opportunity to create your own Craft Beer with a professional Brewer. Needless to say, every single person who attended the pub quiz bought a fair few raffle tickets! The quiz itself consisted of 5 rounds: General Knowledge, Zoology, Sri Lanka, Blue Planet and a surprise themed animal round. Team members Priyanka and Andrew hosted the quiz, while other members of the team kept tab of the scores and raffle tickets and Jack photographed the event. Everyone enjoyed the quiz - some found certain questions challenging (especially the general ones about Sri Lanka). By the end of the night we raised around £160 - for our first event this was a definite success, however we do need to fundraise a lot more to reach our goal. We'll be planning more events after the new year, so watch this space!
